Preparations for our application for a digital projector through the Lottery 'Awards for All' are still ongoing. The big hold-up has been that we didn't know enough about the digital market. Fortunately, through a chance thought from John Booth we have been able to get a provider to do all the research.
Kay Ridley and her team have again produced some good results from the Christmas Fayre stall at the West Swindon District Centre. Sales topped £167. Our thanks go to Kay, Heather Brimacombe. Vera Raymont, Sheila Woolhouse and Richard van Roon. Thanks also go to Jean Thatcher for knitting the doll for the Name the Clown raffle (£12 raised). RSPB Catalogue sales produced a splendid £686, so thank you to all purchasers.
Remember, meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month from September until June. All these meetings are held at the Even Swindon Community Centre, Jennings Street, Swindon, at 7.45 pm. Free car park at the Centre. Admission is £2 for group members and £2.50 for visitors. There will be a raffle and refreshments are available.
Field Trips are also held each month and anyone wishing to go one one of these should arrive at the O.S. Grid Reference point by 9:30am (unless otherwise stated). Please wear stout shoes/boots and have the necessary weather protection. Normally, all field trips continue into the afternoon so lunch should be brought. Field trips generally involve a leisurely walk of some three or four miles on flat pathways, although a few may include steepish or undulating tracks.
