We made an application to a charitable trust to cover the cost of a digital projector and we have been awarded the whole £500 that we asked for.
The Jack Lane Charitable Trust was created in 2002 to benefit residents of South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. The Trust is interested in small projects that promote education, the improvement of training and employment opportunity, support the handicapped, the maintenance and improvement of public amenities, the preservation of historic sites and the provision of facilities for sport, leisure, music and the arts for people in this area.
We have been very fortunate to more than halve our spending requirement through this trust, and can invite others who may qualify for a grant to make a suitable application to admin@jacklane.co.uk
The group now owns an Optoma EP 727i digital projector. Now all we have to do is learn how to use it!
The next stage is to collect a library of photographs. Obviously, we shall obtain many from rspb-images and shall have a good number of our slides reformatted in DVD form with CD back-up.
In addition, we would like members to offer background and species photos to build up our library - not just birds. Please send information to Derek Lyford so we can start the collation of suitable material. Our e community speakers have told us that local audiences like to see photos of things near to where they live or meet.
