Indoor Meeting - Birds of Yorkshire

Male redstart perched on branch

Wednesday, 6 September 2006

The Even Swindon Community Centre always attracts a good turnout, and once again tonight was no exception. Group member, John Booth, has lived in Yorkshire and has spent a lot of his time both birdwatching and walking in this county. The audience was able to view some excellent slides, which covered the dales, moors and coast. We travelled through the beautiful dales with John's slides showing us some of the birds that can be found there. We then moved on to the River Wharf and Bolton Abbey, famous for pied flycatcher, redstart and dipper. Finally we visited the coast where he showed a good selection of birds and scenery. John gave a very informative talk and really knew his subject. I am sure we all gained a good insight of where to go and what birds to look out for when visiting Yorkshire.
