Indoor Meeting - Red Kites
Tuesday, 5 December 2006
Ken Panchen came over from Beaconsfield to talk about the Red Kite programme in the Chilterns. He started by giving us a general overview of wildlife in his area before going into the history of the reintroduction project. This species, once regular even in big towns, had been shot out by the late 19th century, but now there are seven territories (plus, of course, the Welsh stronghold) where kite populations have been re-established. They cover large hunting areas so please look out for red kites with wingtags.
