Field Trips

This last half year has been one of change, and as must be expected some changes are good and some not so. Most of those changes will be noticed as you read through the website, but one will hit you by its absence. This coming year there will be no pre-planned field trips.

Attendance at these particular events has been poor, with numbers at some venues varying from just four to under ten. Committee has guessed that so many people are doing their own thing, are bored with the same places turning up too often, or are now conscious of the environmental impact of twitching and so are staying away. Of course, if sufficient members want a group trip to some places of particular interest (the Water Park on New Year's Day, Slimbridge etc.) a trip can be put together at short notice.

The decision to have a year off coincided with Vic Austin's request to stand down as field trip organiser. We would like to thank him for his excellent efforts during the last eight years. It is not easy to please with a only limited number of sites on offer.

We shall, of course, continue with the indoor meetings, and these are laid out within this website. We hope they will be of interest to you. However, please note that there will be no meeting on Tuesday 1 January - the hall will be used for other purposes. Derek Lyford
