Rodger Goodrick
Group Visit to Strumpshaw Fen
Several members of the group visited Strumpshaw Fen to try dyke dipping and we could not have wished for better weather as the sun was shining and it was really warm. We had a good catch including Water Scorpion and small Sticklebacks. There were lots of Dragonfly nymph of which we identified as either Norfolk Hawker or Brown Hawker as these are very similar when they are first hatched, in addition to many more different species. When we finished the visit on getting back to the hide by the Reception a Kingfisher was perched just outside on a post which we could see really well without the aid of binoculars.
The photo is of cadis fly larva covered in tiny shells which is quite unusual in this location
