Spring Fayre

A cold but dry day greeted us as we met to unload the cars ready for the annual Spring Fayre at Shepperton. A great band of volunteers met to support this event and raise funds. Many thanks to you all who turned out or provided items to sell, we cannot manage this event without you.

Once again the Schools Painting Competition proved a great success with children in the local area. The competition was judged by Herald and News bird columnist Derek Belsey. Not an easy task with almost 700 children taking part and a total of 40 pictures in the final judging.

Winners of the Painting competition were - Age Group 8 - 11
First: Phoebe Davies, from Saxon School, picture of a Great Tit
Second: Rachel Littlemore, from St Nicholas School, picture of a Blue Tit family

Winners of the Age Group 5 - 7
First: Georgia Maskell, from St Nicholas School, picture of a Rainbow Bird
Second: Redmond Haslam, from Manor Mead School, picture of a Robin

Thorpe Park again sponsored this event and each winner won 2 tickets to Thorpe Park and an RSPB book. Runners up each won an RSPB book.

Prizes for the Raffle were provided by various sponsors, Ron Jackson made a fantastic Bird Table from recycled wood.

A total of £791 was raised on the day and this will be sent to Farnham Heath RSPB Reserve in Surrey.

Many thanks to the people of Shepperton and the surrounding area who supported The RSPB on the day.
