Despite being promised a warm sunny day, it was cloudy with a strong fresh wind blowing! Our Groups Leader's car (that everyone loves to call a "van") came in handy and acted as a wind shield for the gazebo and amazingly everything stayed where it should be all day. Having the experience of last years event under our belts we had come prepared. RSPB Sales, Tombola, Graham's Cards, Plants, Cuddly Toys, Bird Food, Bird Nesting Boxes, Pin Badges Name Gathering Cards and last but not least Membership. . A couple of us had prepared a picnic which saved everyone having to bring packed lunches.
The stand looked really attractive by the time the Fayre opened. Mary had been "shopping" with the RSPB and bought new blue tablecloths which looked good with the blue gazebo, the roller banner and bendy flag. The stand had a bright, clean, welcoming and professional look to it and the volunteers either were wearing our North West RSPB tee shirts/sweatshirts or an RSPB tabard. There was a feeling of confidence amongst the volunteers this year brought on through the flexi membership training that several had been on
We had a great day even though the keen wind kept the punters on the move. All the plants sold, Graham sold more cards than the year before, the tombola was slow due to plenty of competition around the ground but still managed to attract the children but the star of the show was the memberships. Simon was on form, and by the end of the afternoon had successfully signed 12 memberships, this was 3 more than the year before. Fantastic!
All in all we took £200 (which included the Pin Badge box money) and 12 memberships
Thanks goes to:
