This RSPB reserve has one of the largest heron colonies in the south, around 150 pairs, alongside a newly formed colony of Little Egret of about 50 pairs.
The marshes below the hill are also part of the reserve, where the many pools host waders using the Thames Flyway on their Spring Migration.
