The RSPB in North Kent - presented by David James

David is an ornithologist, and will show us the nature reserves managed by the RSPB in North Kent which are so important for many species of wild birds. Having fought off the threat to Cliffe marshes, the RSPB has to continue its work to prevent the threat posed by an airport in the Thames estuary.

Rainham Marshes RSPB Reserve
Location: Meet in car park of Rainham Marshes RSPB Reserve.
Exit M25 at J30. Follow signs to Dagenham, London, on west bound A13. Exit A13 at the A1306 (first junction signposted Wennington, Aveley and Purfleet). From junction follow signs to Purfleet along A1306 for half mile. At traffic lights, take R, signposted A1090 to Purfleet onto New Tank Hill Road flyover. The entrance is 300m along this road, on R just after bottom of the flyover.

On the L on A283 - 3 miles before Pulborough, after turning off A24 at Washington.

Spitsbergen - a talk by Ian Rowlands

Ian has a passion for birds, mammals and conservation as well as being an excellent photographer. Spitsbergen is only 800 miles from the north pole, but amidst peaks, glaciers, sea ice and roaming Polar Bears, there are 16 million Little Auks as well as many other species of Arctic birds.
