Tudeley Woods RSPB Reserve

Tudeley Woods RSPB Reserve

Tudeley Woods reserve is actively managed by the RSPB, with cyclical coppicing of areas of woodland, and regeneration of adjacent areas of lowland heath.
As well as a typical range of birds, including all three woodpeckers, Sparrowhawk, and wintering thrushes, the reserve is rich in insects, flowers and fungi.
The woods are a remnant of the ancient forest of Andreaswald, with records dating back to the 12th century Wealden iron industry.

There are well marked nature trails, but they are not suitable for wheelchair use. There is a car park, but no other facilities.

The reserve is off the single carriageway section of the A21 between the Tunbridge Wells and Pembury turnings. Turn into Half Moon Lane near a Shell Petrol Station, signposted "Capel 2". The car park is on the left after 0.3 miles.
