Field Meeting at Rainham Marshes

Young man looking through binoculars

Sunday, 6 January 2008

Anne Breame, Bosia and myself made the first trip of 2008 to one of the RSPB's new reserves,
up and running now with a good information centre, shop and tea room, well maintained paths, but still only one hide.
Of the 45 species we saw, of note were a pair of Pintail, a Little Egret, Shoveler, Gadwall, Black-tailed Godwit and Golden Plover. We were unfortunately witnesses to what happens when birds and power cables meet, when a Canada goose collided with a power line, and came off second best!
