At last a calm, sunny, warm day. Birdsong and butterflies: Brimstone, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell. Spring in the air - a day for Dunnocks, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff and Skylarks, even the Grey Heron seemed restless. By the car park, pairs (and more) of Treecreepers and Nuthatches. Later, a pair of Buzzards displaying ; Snipe (7+), and a pair of Lesser Black-backed Gulls thinking of nesting?
My first Swallows (3), House Martins (8), and a Willow Warbler. A pair of big-eyed Goldcrest, the male
half-displaying the red in its crown, completed a very enjoyable day.
