Trip reports
Field Meeting at RSPB Dungeness.

Thursday, 25 September 2008
A couple of fairly clear nights and so no queues of migrants waiting to leave - in fact the first time I can remember there being no birds on the today's sightings list! However, the good weather, good company and a total of 46 species contributed to a very enjoyable day. A very brief view of a Slavonian Grebe (or was it?) for a couple of us - confirmed as 'Horned Grebe' in a field-guide; and, oh yes, it's a Slavonian then! - led us to wait for a better view: patience was rewarded by really great views of a preening Cetti's Warbler instead! Other species ranged from Wheatear and Whitethroat to Green Woodpecker and Ruff.
