Male bearded tit perching on Phragmites

Sunday, 12 October 2008

The day started very misty, which soon cleared and it turned out to be a very warm day.
Of the 46 species seen, the birds of note were 12+ Avocet, Little Stint, a large flock of Golden Plover, at least 2 Bearded tit, 6+ Marsh Harrier and Common Buzzard. A Cetti's Warbler was heard and increasing numbers of Wigeon and Teal. Chiffchaff was heard in the orchard and a lone Wheatear was seen. Of the seven members on the trip, a few stayed late and were rewarded with Little and Barn Owls.
