It was a lovely, dry, sunny day. Fresh winds to start with, moderating by lunchtime. The Reserve covers an area of traditional grazing marsh, reed bed and salt marsh, dissected by fresh water and brackish dykes.
68 species were seen:
Little Grebe, Cormorant, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Shelduck, Wigeon, Gadwall, Teal, Mallard, Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Kestrel, Merlin, Hobby, Water Rail, Moorhen, Coot, Oystercatcher, Avocet, Ringed Plover, Golden Plover,
Grey Plover, Lapwing, Knot, Little Stint, Curlew Sandpiper, Dunlin, Ruff, Snipe, Bar-tailed Godwit,
Black-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Curlew, Redshank, Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull, Great black-backed Gull, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, Kingfisher, Sand Martin, House Martin, Swallow, Meadow Pipit, Yellow Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Wren (H), Whinchat, Wheatear, Cetti's Warbler,
