Adult and children with book and binoculars birdwatching

September/October News

Thanks to everyone's fundraising efforts, we were able to make a donation of £1,000 to RSPB Fowlmere reserve, nr Royston, Herts.

The first event of the new programme was the car trip to Cliffe Pools and Oare Marshes, an excellent area for birds and wildlife, led by Derrick Ling. See our trip reports page for more details.

Terry Smith was at the Bittern Information Point at Fishers Green on September 23rd, to promote the RSPB and raise funds by selling a selection of Christmas cards and other sales goods. He'll be there again on October 28th and November 24th, between 11am and 3pm - come along and say 'hello'.

At our first meeting on September 25th, Bill Coster presented an exciting audio/visual tour of summer in the Shetland Isles, with superb images of the wildlife to be found there. A great start to our programme of talks. Chris Dee of the BTO gave a short presentation on the coming BTO Atlas.

Derrick Ling led a walk at Amwell on October 7th, which had to be re-routed due to a riding event, full report on our trip reports page.

Coming events:

October 20th: Coach trip to RSPB Snettisham, book with Derrick Ling on 01920 466563.

October 30th: Our monthly group meeting. We welcome back Ed Eastwood, with his talk 'Ins and Outs of Aquatic Life - the natural history of water surfaces'.

November events:

Please note that our Racenight at Much Hadham on November 10th has had to be cancelled due to lack of support.

Our second 'Meet the group day' at RSPB Rye Meads will be held on November 18th, 10am to 4pm. See programme for more details.

We look forward to meeting you at one of our events.
