Coach trip to RSPB Pulborough Brooks

23 of us arrived at the reserve on a glorious dry November day, which started bright and sunny, becoming cloudy and a little colder later in the day. The light was excellent and gave good views of all the birds.

Highlights:

Good views of the Peregrine that posed in the tree for some, large flocks of Pintail, Lapwings, Wigeon etc. flying over the Brooks and the Nuthatch, Marsh Tits and Coal Tit on the feeders outside the visitor centre. The Tea rooms were also very popular!

61 bird species were seen or heard, by the group :

Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Cormorant, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Pintail, Shoveler, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Peregrine, Pheasant, Moorhen, Golden Plover, Lapwing, Dunlin, Snipe, Black-tailed Godwit, Black-headed Gull, Common Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Skylark (H), Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Stonechat, Blackbird, Fieldfare, Song Thrush, Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Goldcrest, Long-tailed Tit, Marsh Tit, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Jay, Magpie, Jackdaw, Rook, Carrion Crow, Starling, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Lesser Redpoll and Bullfinch.

Other Wildlife:

Mammals : Fallow Deer (a herd were feeding in the fields behind the centre all day), Rabbit and Grey Squirrel
