Morning walk at Fishers Green

Bittern feeding in reedbeds

12 supporters joined group leader Terry Smith on this 'Get to know your local birds' walk, on a very foggy morning.Visibility did not improve until late in the morning and it remained cold, max temp 2-3c. The tern rafts were barely visible from the Bittern Information point hide.

46 sp were seen, highlights being the good views of a bittern in front of the Bittern Information Point hide, the kingfisher seen flying and then perched along the channel, 2 male smew and a female goosander seen from the Grebe hide.

Little grebe, great crested grebe, cormorant, bittern, grey heron, mute swan, canada goose, wigeon, gadwall, teal, mallard, shoveler, pochard, tufted duck, smew, goosander, sparrowhawk, kestrel, pheasant, moorhen, coot, black-headed gull, common gull, woodpigeon, kingfisher, great spotted woodpecker, wren, dunnock, robin, blackbird, fieldfare, redwing, goldcrest, long-tailed tit, great tit, blue tit, treecreeper, jay, magpie, carrion crow, chaffinch, greenfinch, goldfinch, siskin, bullfinch and reed bunting.
