CAR TRIP TO NORTH KENT MARSHES

The group's "New Year" got off to a very enjoyable start with good weather and an excellent variety of birds.

Derrick Ling led this car trip to RSPB Cliffe Pools & Kent Wildlife Trust Oare Marsh Reserve. The weather was predominantly sunny, warm and calm. 14 people joined Derrick on this trip.

Little grebe, great crested grebe, cormorant, little egret, grey heron, mute swan, greylag goose, canada goose, brent goose, shelduck, wigeon, gadwall, teal, mallard, pintail, shoveler, pochard, tufted duck, marsh harrier, sparrowhawk, kestrel, red-legged partridge, water rail (H), moorhen, coot, oystercatcher, avocet, ringed plover, golden plover, grey plover, lapwing, curlew sandpiper, dunlin, ruff, snipe, bar-tailed godwit, black-tailed godwit, whimbrel, redshank, greenshank, turnstone, Mediterranean gull, black-headed gull, common gull, herring gull, great black-backed gull, sandwich tern, stock dove, woodpigeon, collared dove, kingfisher, green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker, sand martin, swallow, house martin, meadow pipit, yellow wagtail (H), grey wagtail, pied wagtail, dunnock, robin, stonechat, blackbird, song thrush, reed warbler, willow warbler, bearded tit, long-tailed tit, blue tit, great tit, magpie, jackdaw, carrion crow, starling, chaffinch, greenfinch, goldfinch, linnet and reed bunting.

Mammal seen : Rabbit

Butterflies seen: Large White, Small White, Comma, Speckled Wood, Clouded Yellow, Peacock and Painted Lady.
