It began well with fine weather, dry, mainly sunny, with light wind at beginning of the walk and we saw a good variety of species. A little egret was seen after several people had left the group, at the end of the walk, from the Amwell Viewpoint.

Little grebe, great crested grebe, cormorant, little egret, grey heron, mute swan, greylag goose, canada goose, wigeon, gadwall, teal, mallard, shoveler, red-crested pochard, pochard, tufted duck, sparrowhawk, buzzard, pheasant, moorhen, coot, lapwing, snipe, black-headed gull, common gull, lesser black-backed gull, great black-backed gull, woodpigeon, feral pigeon, green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker (H), grey wagtail, wren, robin, blackbird, song thrush, long-tailed tit, marsh tit, blue tit, great tit, treecreeper, jay, magpie, jackdaw, rook, carrion crow, starling, chaffinch and goldfinch.
