Local Walk around Glen Faba lakes & the Stort valley

Phil Blatcher led this walk on a calm, grey and overcast but dry day, max temp 45 degF.

26 members enjoyed this walk, including 6 newcomers to our events.

Glen Faba consists of two lakes, both man made, and are results of the once thriving sand and gravel extraction industry that existed in the Lee Valley, an industry producing high quality aggregate products for the construction trade.

Glen Faba Lake is the largest of the lakes, a mature gravel pit approximately 120 Acres. The other to the North West of the site is known locally as 'Stort Pit'

Total Species Recorded: 39

Highlights:
Goldeneye (3 drakes), wigeon (6 drakes), Egyptian goose (4), green woodpecker, redwing (c.8), fieldfare (c.60).
