Location: RSPB Garston Wood nature reserve. Garston Wood is one and a half miles north of Sixpenny Handley on the road to Bowerchalke. There is a small carpark at the northern end of the reserve, by the road, at SU 004 195.
Join the warden Toby Branston or one of our knowledgeable volunteers for a guided walk/stroll around this fabulous 95 acre woodland reserve. Walks will start at the entrance car park from 10 am until 4 pm inclusive, every hour, on the hour and will take one to two hours depending on how much you are keen to see and enjoy and learn about the management of this beautiful coppiced woodland. Feel free to stroll around the reserve unaccompanied if your prefer. In July, the large and colourful silver-washed fritillary butterflies will be flitting along the paths, along with many other species. Last year, several white Admiral butterflies (which are mostly black) were seen. Some of the more unusual summer orchids may be in flower. Refreshments, artworks, coppice crafts, plants and RSPB Sales Goods will be available by the carpark.
