The Countryside Restoration Project
The Countryside Restoration Trust is a farming and conservation charity which aims to protect and restore Britain's countryside with wildlife-friendly and commercially viable agriculture. The Trust is committed to promoting the importance of a living and working countryside through education, demonstration and community involvement. The Countryside Restoration Trust acquires, by purchase and gift, farms and woodland with a view to restore or maintain native wildlife and the traditional appearance of the land by appropriate methods of husbandry. From a start in 1993, when a 40-acre field was bought at Barton, Cambridgeshire, the CRT has acquired nine properties in different parts of England. These total over 1200 acres and include arable and livestock farm, smallholding, woodland and orchard.
