Stort Valley Local Group

We're a brand new group who have come together to share our passion for nature and to help raise awareness of the RSPB's work.

Our group leader, Malcolm Allan, said "We're a newly formed group, and we hope to enthuse and encourage people about the birds and wildlife that live around them. There's so much to see and enjoy in Bishops Stortford and the surrounding areas, and we'd like to share this with other people as well as raising money for a worthy cause."

With this in mind, we're setting up a programme of monthly meetings, regular guided walks and evening talks. We're also taking part in events such as Bishops Stortford Carnival, supporting the Love Nature Collection Week, and setting up our stall in places like the Town Library and Coopers. As the group grows we plan to organise some more adventurous day trips.

Meetings take place at 7.30 pm in Bishops Park Community Centre (near Tesco) every 2nd Tuesday of the month (with a Summer break in July and August). Everyone is welcome, and you don't have to be a member of the RSPB to come along. A passion for nature, or just a wish to learn more about the wildlife on your doorstep, is all that's needed.

Check out our events diary for a full listing of meetings and other events. If you want to learn a bit more before you come along, call Malcolm Allan on 01279 504452 or email him on glenallan@tiscali.co.uk
