Stort Valley River Walk

Swallow perched on wire fence in Spain

Monday, 28 June 2010

On Sunday 28th June ten of us went for a walk from Pig Lane out towards Spellbrook to see what birds could be spotted along the river. It was a cloudy evening with very little sun, therefore not much good light. We all felt the birds were teasing us, lurking and singing but not showing very much.
However, it was a good walk, if a little heavy on biting and stinging insects!

Birds seen on the walk:
Whitethroat
Moorhen
Greenfinch
Mallard
Magpie
Cormorants
Swifts
Wood pigeons
Greater spotted woodpecker
Grey wagtail
Starling
Swallow
Song thrush
Grey heron
Reed warbler
Blackbird
Wren
Sedge warbler
Reed bunting

Heard but not seen:
Grasshopper warbler
Bullfinch

Thanks to Lee for an enjoyable walk.
