The weather was sunny and mild for this visit to the Lincolnshire coast. The previous weekend the east coast had been littered with autumn migrants but on our trip things had quietened down. Even so we did have some good sightings. On the sea red-throated divers were seen as well as some seals, one of which came very close inshore, and a party of whooper swans flew past heading south. A large number of skylarks were on passage along with a few belated swallows. Waders of various sorts were present in very small numbers except for a big flock of golden plovers which occupied a field west of the reserve.
