Field Trip - New Hythe

New Hythe is one of the best inland sites in Kent for birds. Each year well over 100 species are seen. Specialities include wintering Bittern, a high density of Nightingale and Cettis Warbler. The first of two trips with Peter Lloyd. Take RSPB membership cards (or entrance fees may be charged), warm waterproof clothes and footwear, binoculars and packed lunches.

A talk with John Wyatt from Tring in Herts. John is a life-long naturalist, former keeper at London Zoo, and leader of many wildlife tours who now works as an "ornitho-egyptologist" in Egypt. This talk is very much a bird talk but with an archaeological flavour, which will include the many birds John has identified from the mummies, bones and tombs. It promises to be different, but very interesting.
