Haysden Country Park

Owned by the Tonbridge & Malling Bourough Council, the park covers 65 hectares and part of the park is designated as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest. As well as the two lakes, (Barden & Haysden) the river Medway runs through the park which covers an area of former agricultural land on the Medway Flood Plain. The lakes are home to Geese and Swans year round as well as a variety of water fowl including various Ducks and Great Crested and Little Grebe. In summer the lakes and river attract Swallows, while Kingfisher hunt on the stretch of the river Medway. The river is also home to Dragon and Damselflies as well as Yellow Water Lily and Yellow Flag Iris.
The woodland areas are home to Butterflies and Wild Garlic and warblers such as Whitethroat and Blackcap are common in spring and summer. There are open areas around the outskirts of the nature trails where Partridge and Pheasent feed as well as Kestrals hunting for mice and bats hunting towards nightfall.
The nature trails are between 1/2 - 2miles and there are parking & toilet facilities. Haysden Country Park can be found by following the country park signs just to the west of the main A26 through Tonbridge. The park is off Lower Haysden Lane grid reference: TQ57234609.
