Bedgebury National Pinetum

Pair of Scottish crossbills at nest

The Bedgebury National Pinetum is one of the finest collections of conifers in the UK. There are over 10,000 trees and shrubs many rare and endangered in their native habitat attracting some of the UK's more intriguing birds. Located in the borough of Royal Tunbridge Wells just off the A21 near Goudhurst it is also host to some rare and elusive species of British birds.

Although spring time will afford views of traditional woodland birds such as Tits, Green & Great Spotted Woodpeckers, winter is the time when you can catch a glimpse of the elusive Hawfinch, the UK's largest finch as well as the other species such as Crossbill's and the diminutive Firecrest as well as its more common relation the Goldcrest. All of these birds are attracted to the wide range of conifers and spruces abundant in the pinetum.

Bedgebury National Pinetum is located on the B2079 from Goudhurst and is signposted from the A21 before reaching Flimwell.
