Trip to Beachy Head - September 2009

Saturday, 19 September 2009
The weather was hot and sunny and a number of migrants were seen, including willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap, hundreds of swallows and house martins with a few sand martins mixed in - a constant stream all along the Downs between Eastbourne and Cuckmere. There was a single whinchat at Cuckmere and a flock of over 30 whimbrels heading out to sea in a lovely V-formation. Visible migration!
Butterflies included a small blue and a clouded yellow.
