Field trip to Sandwich Bay and Pegwell Bay

Curlew standing on weed, County Cork, Ireland

Wednesday, 18 November 2009

little egret, sparrowhawk, grey partridge, sanderling, knot, golden and grey plover, curlew, snipe, Sandwich tern, rose-ringed parakeet, green and great spotted woodpecker, skylark and stonechat.

The day was mild and drizzly in the morning but beautiful late afternoon sun at Pegwell Bay really showed up the golden plovers' plumage. Other highlights were the late swallows and Sandwich terns in winter plumage plus superb close views of the snipe.
