Merry Hill (Bushey)

Merry Hill was formally an arable farm aquired by The Woodland Trust
in 1996 since when 62,000 trees and 3 miles of hedgerow have been
planted. An establishing orchard has recently been added. Park in
Victoria Road off Merry Hill Road. Over the seasons the following
birds are present buzzard and red kite rarely, kestrel, jackdaw,
skylark, meadow pipit, reed bunting, stonechat, bullfinch, yellow
hammer, green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker, mistle thrush,
redwing, fieldfare and wheatear on passage. Attenborough Fields
joins the reserve to the northwest and should be included in your
walk. Allow 2 to 3 hours to cover both areas.
