Voluntary Work

If you would like to support the RSPB by doing some voluntary work and learn new skills our group supports all three reserves in Cumbria and the Osprey Project at Bassenthwaite.There are volunteering opportunities for manning the new visitor centre at Campfield Marsh RSPB Reserve, welcoming and giving information to visitors to the reserve. There are also outdoor jobs of conservation and maintenance out on the reserves. The Osprey Project offers work in visitor information and protection. More...

Below is the programme of the monthly illustrated talks for the next season starting on Tuesday 6th September 2016.The meetings are held in the United Reformed Church, Main Street, Cockermouth on the first Tuesday of the month(except January, see list below) at 7.30pm from September until April. These talks are free to members of the RSPB West Cumbria Local Group, £2 for visiting adults and 50p for children. More...

Twenty passengers braved the weather for our annual visit to Martin Mere. The weather forecast for the day was to be very wet with gale force winds. Not very inspiring for a birding trip therefore it was decided to forgo the visit to Marshside this time and retreat to the hides at Martin Mere for the day. More...
