Rob Macklin - "Wildlife of Suffolk"

Location: St Paul's Church Hall, Walliscote Road, Weston-super-Mare

This talk will describe the area and the wide range of habitats, including reedbeds, grazing marshes, coastal lagoons (including the famous Minsmere Scrape), heathlands and woodlands within the Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB. We will look at the wide range of wildlife that occurs and how these areas are managed. Rob joined the RSPB in 1983 and initially worked on contracts at places such as Anglesey, mid-Wales, Papa Westray in Orkney and Langstone Harbour in Hants. He then moved to the Suffolk Coast as habitats warden at Minsmere before moving to become Site Manager at North Warren near Aldeburgh in 1990. In 2003 he was appointed Suffolk Coast Area Manager with responsibility for all the reserves in the area. He took early retirement from RSPB in April 2011 and has now set up an ecological consultancy in the South West of England.
