RSPB's Birds of Prey Campaign

Members of the Wigan RSPB Group have been urged to sign pledges of support for the RSPB's Birds of Prey Campaign. Another batch of more than 20 was collected at the November indoor meeting and dozens more members have already signed-up on pledge-cards or on-line. It is therefore pleasing that we have received the following message from John Loder, RSPB Birds of Prey Campaign Officer in the North West who will be speaking to our meeting on 12 January 2010:-

I am sure you will be pleased to hear that together we have raised a massive 189,000 pledges for the RSPB's Birds of Prey Campaign so far. This is now the biggest campaign the RSPB has run in terms of individual pledges gathered.

So what will we do with our magnificent collection of pledges? Plans are underway to organise a series of hand-in events before the general election in spring 2010, targeting key decision-makers in Westminster, Edinburgh, and possibly elsewhere, to show that the public want more done to tackle crimes against birds of prey.

You may want to inform your members regarding an interview I gave to a website blog for a chain of outdoor shops - which can be found at the linc given below. RSPB HQ at Sandy gave invaluable assistance on content and photos, so thanks to them, and thanks to the Adventure Centre for giving me the opportunity to promote the campaign.
