Guided Walk at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve.

Adult male siskin on feeder

Wednesday, 13 February 2008

11 people set off to find birds at the Hampshire Wildlife Trust reserve at Blashford Lakes. There were many
woodland birds on the feeders near the Visitor Centre such as Siskins , various tits and a Nuthatch. A walk to the hides produced many waterfowl such as Goosander , Wigeon , Ruddy Duck and the pair of
Blacknecked Gebes. After lunch, a visit to the Ivy Lake hide was rewarded by views of a Bittern showing its head and shoulders in the reeds. A beautiful winter's day enjoyed by all.
