Fund Raising Concert by The Nightingale Quintet

Fund Raising Concert by The Nightingale Quintet

On Friday June 19th at 7.30pm in St John's Church, Woodbridge, the Woodbridge RSPB Group is branching out in a new direction in its quest for funds for the environment. The Nightingale Quintet, a much appreciated group of Suffolk musicians, has offered its services to the group. Stephanie Wingham - flute, Judith Weale - oboe, John Helleur - clarinet, Marian Hellen - horn and Karen Bainbridge - bassoon, will be playing a varied programme of music for wind quintet, covering a range of styles from folk dances to 18th century classical and ragtime to musicals. The music will be interspersed with readings by Kate Helleur.
The Nightingale Quintet was formed in 2006 and many of the group will be familiar to the public through their work with young musicians in the county over the years. They have a mission to promote wind music and also to support local charities.
The Woodbridge RSPB Local Group raises nearly £10,000 each year for the environmental work of the RSPB. Much of this money is spent enhancing the work of our existing local reserves, such as North Warren and Boyton Marshes. However one of our present tasks is to support the development of new wetland reserves in the county, like Abbey Farm, to replace those which will surely be lost in the future as sea levels rise due to global warming. We rely on the generosity of the public to support us in our fund raising.
Tickets for the concert will be available from 1st May , from Malcolm Key at 01728 723155. Cost £10.00 adults (includes a glass white of wine), £3.00 children (includes a soft drink). Some tickets will be available on the door, but booking is advised.
