RSPB INNER MARSH FARM AND GAYTON SANDS

Location: Dee Estuary, Cheshire

The RSPB now owns all the marshes between Burton Point Farm and Gayton. the whole area being internationally important for waders and wildfowl. Raptors and owls are also regular in winter. The coach will go to Inner Marsh Farm and Parkgate and those who wish to may walk the four miles between the two. High tide is about1/45pm.

POTTERIC CARR

Location: Doncaster, Yorkshire

A coach trip to this major reserve managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and consisting of 300 acres of open water, woodland, grassland and scrub. There are eight hides, a cafe, picnic area, toilets and five miles of footpaths.

In a welcome return visit, Michael will use his experiences in the rich habitat of the tropical rainforests of Indonesia, the Amazon Basin, West Africa and Central America to explain how a forest works and show us some of the highly specialised animals that have evolved to live in this fragile and intricate environment.

FOREST OF BOWLAND

BIG GARDEN BIRDWATCH

The RSPB is holding events at St Peter's Garden Centre and Webbs Garden Centre when RSPB staff and volunteers will be on hand to give out survey forms for BGB and to offer information and advice.

HOPE FARM & FEN DRAYTON

Hope Farm is a major RSPB success story. In ten years there have been significant increases in numbers of otherwise declining bird species; and the number of plant species has gone up from 103 to 168. We shall visit the nearby Fen Drayton reserve in the afternoon.
