Thousands of whooper and Bewick's swans, along with wintering ducks (often in tens of thousands) make Welney an exciting place at this time of year. The entrance fee for non-WWT members (currently £5.30 adults; £4.00 seniors) will be collected on the outward journey.

THE BIRDS AND WILDLIFE OF THE WESTERN ISLES

A talk with slides given by Nick Martin. This talk will remind us of the wonderful birds, wildlife and scenery of some of the Scottish islands, an area about which Nick is very enthusiastic.

BAJA, CALIFORNIA: ON THE TRAIL OF THE BLUE WHALE
Location: Powick Village Hall on the A449 Worcester to Malvern road.
Joining Mexico and California, Baja is a bird and wildlife paradise - hummingbirds, shearwaters, petrels and shorebirds, 50 foot cacti and more whales than anywhere else in the world. Having worked for the RSPB and Wildlife Trusts and founded a wildlife tour company, Ian is an experienced speaker with a very good reputation. He will deliver an entertaining talk with a thoroughly professional presentation.

STUDLAND NNR
Location: Studland, Dorset
A coach trip to the Studland Peninsula, adjacent to Poole Harbour and noted for its winter population of red-breasted merganser, goldeneye, long-tailed duck, Slavonian and black-necked grebes. Raptors are also a feature in the winter. There is ample scope for walking, giving access to heathland, woodland, three bays and an inland lake.
