COOMBE HILL NATURE RESERVE

Location: Coombe Hill, Gloucestershire. To meet, turn right off the A38 at Coombe Hill traffic lights opposite the A4019 turn. Drive down The Wharf to the small car park at the end of the lane. SO886273

A morning walk led by Mike Stephens around this Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust Reserve to see its array of wild flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and. of course, birds.

SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY AND THE SEVERN WAY

Location: Meet at Upper Arley at west end of the footbridge over the river, or park at the east end and cross to the meeting place. SO766801

A joint walk of general interest with the Worcestershire Naturalist Club, led by Cherry Greenway, catching the 10.27 train to Hampton Loade and walking back to Arley. Carry picnic lunch.

MANCHESTER SHIP CANAL CRUISE

Location: Seacombe, Greater Manchester

A six hours, 35 mile cruise along the MSC with Mersey Ferries. Departing Seacombe at 11.45am, along the Mersey to Widnes, then all the way to Salford Quay using five sets of locks and passing a succession of swing bridges (and much else besides). Return Seacombe is by special bus. We expect to be home by 10.30pm. This trip is open to non-members.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & TALK ON MIDDLETON LAKES

Location: Powick Village Hall on the A449 Worcester/Malvern road.

Worcester & Malvern Local Group AGM followed by a talk by Garry Jones on Middleton Lakes RSPB Nature Reserve. Garry will tell us about this fairly new RSPB reserve near Tamworth and about the birds we may expect to see there.

Somerset Levels

Location: West Sedgemoor, Somerset

A coach trip to the RSPB reserves at West Sedgemoor and Ham Walls. Wintering waders should be present in large numbers depending on the water levels at the time. If there is a starling roost as in previous years, we will make this our priority.
