Frequently asked questions
How do I change the text size of this website on my screen?
If you are using Internet Explorer: to increase or decrease the text size, use the Text Size setting in the View menu (at the top of the screen). The default setting is Medium.
In browsers other than Internet Explorer, there will be a similar setting. For example, in Netscape versions 6 and above the option is called Text Zoom.
I cannot view the movies/hear the audio files on the site
The multimedia files on the RSPB website use Flash. To view these files we recommend that you use Flash Player version 8 or later. You can download the latest version for free.
I like the images you use on your site. Where can I get them from?
Most of the images used on our website are sourced from RSPB Images, where you can buy a print, or send an e-card of your favourite photograph.
Can I link to material on the RSPB website?
You are welcome to link to material on the RSPB website so long as appropriate credit is given in the link title.
Can I request a link from the RSPB website to mine?
We do not have a generic 'links' page. We link to other sites as and when we feel it adds value to a page on our site. The decision to link is an editorial one.
Can I use the RSPB logo on my website?
The RSPB logo must not be used to link to our site. The only exceptions to this rule are RSPB Local Group websites and RSPB Affinity partner sites.
Are financial transactions carried out on your site secure?
Yes. All RSPB forms which request credit card or bank details use the SSL (secure sockets layer) protocol for encryption. The link between your browser and the server is secure if your browser displays a small padlock or key symbol somewhere in the frame, or the address bar shows a web address beginning https:// (rather than http://).
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a very small text file placed on your computer's hard disk (by a website server) when you visit certain web pages. It is associated with the computer you use, not you personally, and it cannot deliver viruses.
The RSPB website uses some cookies. For example, cookies are used to save you time filling in certain forms, by automatically entering some details for you (if you want to change any details which are automatically inserted, you can simply type over any text).
If you disable the use of cookies in your browser, we cannot guarantee that all parts of the site will work.
