Loch of Strathbeg

Outdoor, hands-on learning about our environment and the natural world

Britain's largest dune loch is a joy to visit any time of year.

In spring, the reserve is home to tens of thousands of pink-footed and greylag geese. In summer, the wetlands provide a haven for nesting ducks and waders, as well as dragonflies, frogs and a host of other wildlife.

The abundant birds, insects and other animals together with a native selection of trees and plants create an ideal habitat to explore. Activities are successfully designed to achieve specific objectives related to the new Curriculum for Excellence.
