Northward Hill
Experience the magic of the North Kent Marshes with a tailor-made programme of learning
Overlooking the North Kent Marshes, Northward Hill is one of our most scenic and varied reserves in Southern England.
Its mixture of grassland, grazing marsh and bramble scrub set amongst cherry and pear orchards, make it one of Europe's top places for birds.
The woodland is famous for being the UK's largest heronry with over 150 pairs. Since 2000, they have been joined by breeding little egrets.
In spring, turtle doves, nightingales and warblers join breeding woodpeckers and tits, and the grasslands come alive with grasshoppers, crickets and spiders.
A visit to Northward Hill will enable your pupils to work scientifically and develop new skills while they increase their knowledge of the environment.
