Several good long flights from the bittern seen today especially in the afternoon. The bird was seen on one of the islands at Xerox lagoon and also in flight close by the hides across the length of the reserve.

Ten avocet chicks hatched out now. Also bittern seen in flight over the reserve again.

Over the last couple of days, bittern have been seen twice, yesterday and again today, both times in flight. Three little egrets flew over the reserve, short-eared owl have also been seen and one of the avocet and pochard pairs both have chicks.
