The week began well with a spoonbill and a curlew sandpiper seen at the ARC pit.  Other waders of note included bar-tailed godwit, little stint, common sandpiper, dunlin and knot.  A pair of garganey could also be seen from the viewing screen, although their habit of disappearing into the vegetation for long periods proved frustrating for some! Up to eight hobbies were seen and a red kite flew over on 23rd.  Swifts, swallows and house martins passed through in good numbers early in the week and there was a report of red-rumped swallow at Denge Marsh.
