About

Hustling, bustling with life: that’s Essex.

With the vast mudflats of the coast providing rich feeding grounds for hundreds of thousands of wading birds, ducks and geese on passage and in winter. In south Essex, we have a visitor centre at Wat Tyler Country Park and manage marshes at Vange and West Canvey.

The Wallasea Wild Coast project is our most ambitious plan so far to restore lost coastal wetlands on a huge scale – an area 2 ½ times the size of the City of London.

Try our nature reserve and centre at Rainham Marshes on the edge of London. The RSPB also has nature reserves on the Stour Estuary and at Old Hall on the Blackwater Estuary.
