Which feathered friends will turn up?...

On Sunday 29 January the RSPB are holding a Big Garden Birdwatch event at the River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames.

The Big Garden Birdwatch event will run from 10 am to 4 pm, where there will be a fantastic opportunity for children to participate in the biggest wildlife survey in the world!

Over 11,000 people across Oxfordshire took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch last year, with house sparrows, blackbirds and blue tits being the most popular birds recorded.

Visitors will have the opportunity to come and take a look through binoculars and see what feathered friends turn up and add their results to the survey.

There’ll be lots of fun wildlife-related activities for the kids to enjoy, such as badge making, creating dragonflies. There will also be the chance for visitors to make their own bird feeder and nest box to take home and put up in the garden.

Kirsty Paul, RSPB Events Co-ordinator said: "I am really excited about the event - the museum is in a beautiful area right next to the River Thames. We have some fantastic activities for the families to enjoy, plus there will be the opportunity for visitors to find out more about the Big Garden Birdwatch.”

The River and Rowing Museum provides a great day out for the family. There is a fantastic display about the Wind in the Willows story and a café on site. There is an entrance fee into the museum but as a special offer, the museum is offering RSPB members a 50% reduction rate on admission during our event (please provide proof of membership).
