Get hemmering this holiday

Nestbox on tree

Making your very own nestbox to encourage a new feathered family to live in your garden is what’s on offer over the half term holidays at the Ribble Discovery Centre, near Lytham St Annes.

To celebrate ‘National Nestbox Week’ which runs from 14 - 21 February, the centre will be running a Nestbox Building event on Sunday 19 February.

Julie Vale, Visitor Services Officer says “Building a nestbox is a fantastic way to get closer to the birds in your own garden. The satisfaction of knowing that your nestbox is providing a vital home for garden birds is almost as endless as the pleasure of watching them raise their own young.”

All tools and tuition are provided and each box taken home costs £8. Pre-booking is essential for one of three workshops: 1 pm, 2 pm or 3 pm by phoning 01253 796292. Grown-ups can also make their own nest box-just let the centre know when booking.
