This summer, show your child what it really means to be a mini-monster by taking part in one of the ‘Bug Quest’ events run by the RSPB at Fineshade Woods.
You can take part in these fun family events on one of six dates during the holidays.
You will root around under fallen leaves and logs, looking for the smaller creatures that make the wood their home.
The events start at 10:30 am and to take part costs £4 per child and £2 per accompanying adult (half price for RSPB members).
Places are strictly limited so advance booking is required by calling 07912 667734 or on email to email@example.com.
The sessions will take place on:
Thursday 19 July
Tuesday 24 July
Tuesday 31 July
Tuesday 7 August
Thursday 16 August
Thursday 30 August
Chris Andrews, RSPB visitor officer, said: “Most people don’t realise how amazing things like bugs can be. Come along and we’ll show you the minibeasts that have four noses, 27,000 teeth or that can carry 50 times their own body weight!”
More details about this and other events throughout the year can be found at the centre’s website: www.rspb.org.uk/toplodge.
Fineshade Wood is run by the Forestry Commission and just off the A43 between Corby and Stamford (signposted Top Lodge, Fineshade) and within a short drive of both Peterborough and Leicester. There is a café, toilets and two children’s play areas on site.
From scrub bashing to guided walks, the RSPB run events all around the UK
