Discover brilliant birdlife at Leeds Castle with the RSPB this summer

Visitors to Leeds Castle will be able to enjoy a spot of wildlife watching with the RSPB starting from Friday 10 August.
The Castle’s main lake hosts a variety of waterbirds, including swans, ducks, moorhens, coots and great crested grebes, whose chicks hatched in June and are now learning to fend for themselves.
To help you get a closer look at all the different birds feeding, flying and splashing about with their young, the RSPB is setting up a viewing area overlooking the lake. From 10 August to 2 September, staff and volunteers will be there every day between 10.30 am and 4.30 pm with telescopes and binoculars for you to use free of charge.
Francesca Currie, Events Officer with the RSPB said: “With all the young birds about, this is a great time to come and enjoy the wildlife at Leeds Castle.
“You don’t need to have experience of birdwatching to have a go, and with the help of our telescopes you can get some fantastic views.
“We’ll have smaller scopes for children to use, too, so it’s a very family-friendly event and a great way to introduce children to wildlife while you enjoy a day out in the Castle’s stunning grounds.”
The RSPB team will be based outside of the Aviary overlooking the lake, near the maze area of the Castle gardens.
The RSPB’s Date with Nature projects aim to bring people closer to nature and inspire young people. In addition to learning about wildlife at Leeds Castle, visitors can also talk to staff and volunteers about how they can help save and protect wildlife by getting involved in the charity’s new campaign, Stepping Up for Nature.
