BirdWatch Ireland and RSPB Northern Ireland are pleased to announce that their 43rd All Ireland Conference will take place from Friday 26 – Sunday 28 March 2010. BirdWatch Ireland will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary and launching its Forward Strategy.

Whether you have been to our conferences in the past or if you have assumed that they are for experts and not for you, you should consider coming to this one: it will be a conference with a difference, with national and internationally renowned speakers, workshops and field trips.

Our keynote speaker is Professor Chris Perrins, world renowned for his study of woodland birds, particularly the
Great and Blue Tits [or Paridae family]. However, the topic of his keynote address will be his second fascination in
life, the Manx Shearwaters of the Welsh islands of Skomer and Skokholm.

It is an event for people from all backgrounds, both expert ornithologists and armchair birdwatchers alike. The
theme will be Seabirds: Life on the Edge. Learn how issues such as climate change are affecting our seabird
populations and how seabirds have evolved survival techniques to live on the edge.

The venue will be the Sligo Park Hotel & Leisure Club on the edge of Sligo town. Guests will enjoy the backdrop of
landscaped gardens and mature trees as well as free access to the 4 star leisure centre. A well established favourite, the Sligo Park has a reputation for personal service and quality local produce used in the restaurant and bar.

As well as a fantastic line-up of presentations, talks, workshops and field trips we have a host of special features for
delegates, including:

?? A special conference welcome pack.

?? Raffle and competitions with a wide range of prizes on offer.

?? Wings Shop, with a range of bird books, feeders, gift items and much more, as well as a special optics section to provide specialised advice on purchasing binoculars and telescopes, including practical demonstrations.

?? Project Staff on hand during the three days to answer any questions you may have about our conservation work and Ireland’s wild birds.
